We went up to the Black Canyon rock show yesterday. Couldn't ask for nicer weather, and got to see drocknut 's excellent set up and chat with her a bit. Always a treat!  So I showed pretty good restraint, but as one might expect a few things followed me home: A set of Pet Fern bookends. I was kinda drawn by the pocket on the side  Some cheap chunks of BO, a Dino slab and a chunk of Stone Canyon  Christa got a nice cab but I forgot to get a pic. Anyway, thanks for looking!  |

Yeah, yeah - you got there a day ahead of us. Good job on your scores! I would've snapped up the Stone Canyon, and Robin would've beaten me to the dino bone slab. Do have to admit not knowing what BO stands for. Think my scent memory is getting in the way... .
We also got to visit with drocknut during the show. First time we'd gotten together since Q a few years ago, so that was a real treat.
Since this thread is about "Show Finds" I hope it's okay to post a couple of things we found there. Couple pounds of Chrysocolla scraps and two pieces of Astrophyllite weighing almost a pound. Robin also got some small chunks of Bloodstone with some old-stock red spots.
There's one piece of Chrysocolla I rubbed up to 3000 grit just to see if it would fall apart. So far so good... .
Wonder if anyone else here made it to the show.

Hey nice finds there Vince! Glad you guys got the chance to go. We went with Rodney and he sniffed out some pretty nice psilomelane chunks and a couple huge Luna slabs. Btw BO is Boulder Opal. I'll add a couple of close ups in a bit, looks pretty promising |

Oh yeah - would've recognized that right away. Excellent. The darker one should be great for pattern stones. The yellow is usually softer, but can still produce some good cabs. Robin sold a pendant with a darker piece like that in it at the Prescott show.

We did ok but not great. Attendance was down according to the show chairperson and all the vendors were saying they didn't do as well as in years past. It was fun and I got to meet a few new people and catch up with my RTH crowd so it's all good. |
