Hello all,
Cutting some tough Pet wood caused my saw to "slip" a bit and get stuck about an inch into the cut. One of the screws on the right under side of the carriage assembly would get a bit loose and need tightening too. With the jaws clamped down I can still move the carriage back a bit on the feedscrew. Then it gets to a point where it grabs/catches again and holds tight. Is it my jaws or feed screw or something else? Thanks all

There is a locking collar on the feed screw that is at the front of the saw by the gears, is there a large gap between the collar and the front of the tank? This could cause the carriage assembly to move to the front of the saw. Maybe I am not fully understanding the problem.

Could be several issues causing that. Most likely cause is threads are worn or your spring is getting weak, try a stiffer spring first.

It's pretty easy on these HPs to remove the vise from the carriage. My 14" has 5 flathead screws. You'll see them all when you remove the jaw. After removing the vise base, it will be easier to see how it works & may be easier to diagnose the problem. Lynn

Take your spring off and go to a good hardware store and look at their spring selection.
