Okay I posted that it's easy to make your own findings so I pulled together some stuff that didnt work out for what ever reason. Sorry, all the really nice stuff is given away almost as soon as I make it. Anyway...here are some odds and ends...remember...I'm not a pro or anything. You'll see two sodalite beads...one with a crocheted setting, one with a setting where i wrapped the wire, the chandelier earring earwire is made..they're easy...the drop is purchased and then I strung the beads on stirling wire using a rosary wrap. The large round pendant is stirling two...soldered rather badly with a sodalite stone in the middle...and a filigree clasp I made ...I attached a bit of necklace i can't decide if I like to show you how it works. Also there's a piece of of drilled rose quartz that I put some wire and beads with to make a pendant. and a little earring just so show uou it's easy peasy to make stuff even when you're a beginner. Anyway...like I said...you don't have to be a pro to make your own findings...If I can do it anyone can. Oh and finally the bracelet is fine silver wire...I think I explained that I like this because it'll melt fuse and you don't have to solder it. I made the clasp there too.

those are fabulous, Herm, what kind of wire (gauge, hardness, etc.) do you use? did you take a jewelry course? wish i could see the crochet setting better....close ups are a pregnant dog, huh?
did you drill that Rose Quartz with a dremel?
next time, take photos BEFORE you give it all away!

okay...the sodalite wraps are 22 guage wire as are the earrings and earwires. The bracelet can't really be appreciated, it's a loop in loop technique that's really easy but looks complicated. It's 16 guage fine silver round wire...the pendant is ...if I remember, 18 guage half hard stirling. the tiny earring is a bead. The rose quartz was hand drilled with a dremel...I don't have a drill press so I just try to wing it. I just wanted to see what it'd look like...I don't think I'll use it for anything.
Yes I took a beginner jewelry making course at the local continuing ed ...you know...one night a week for eight weeks for housewives. It was really great...taught me the rudiments of soldering for cheap. I'm not very good..but clearly you can make stuff... I said I'd put up or shut up so now I don't have to shut up.

Hermy, I like your solder joints, and the loop ends on teh top earring. Great work. I go by thousandths instead of guage in the wire measure. I find I get a more accurate wire from the suppliers. Guage has some tolerance and can deviate from design to design. It shows when there are a bunch of earrings and one pair looks a little different. Good work.

Herm, Your creations are amazing! Are you planning to sell some, or just keep giving them away?

Hermy, do you make youre own ear hooks as well? Why aren't you selling this stuff? I have half the talent and I put mine out there. No wonder mine hasn't done well. You need a Sands induced spanking! Go For It! Hell, if Doc comments on it, it must be good. And these are what you consider your cast offs? Make like Nike and Just Do It!

Thanks for all your kind comments. The reason I don't post pics of my stuff is because my camera is pretty awful (as you can see)and also because, unlike sands, kd, doc and cookie, I don't really have pieces that use rocks. It's just now that I'm getting a really good selection of rocks to use. But like I said...if I can make stuff anyone can... Basically I just fiddle around until I get something I like...and even if I don't like it I keep it and maybe redo it or think of some way to fix it. There isn't a person here who couldn't do everything on that paper plate (tm krazydiamond '04). Just go for it!

I agree wit cha. Anyone can do it, if, they have want power and are willing to follow through and not settle. As you have probably found out, the disciplines early in learning can be either a detriment, or asset. Proper tool useage, technique, good materials, and a vision. My wife was a yuppie insurance agent from Los Angeles. She thought jewelery only came from third world countries, or an exclusive jeweler that had an inane knowlege of exotic techniques and methods. Four years of my teaching her, and she has customers who seek her out, and she teaches on off shop hours. Believe me when I say this, if she can do it, and accomplish what she has, if a person is willing and has want power, very little is impossible. Good job Hermy. Very professional results, very saleable.

Hey Herm,
I am with everyone else ... you have some gorgeous jewelry there!
It's funny how people who start making jewelry, don't always see the beauty in their own work ... that comes with time I guess. But, one thing is for sure ... those are gorgeous!
Enjoy,
John
