Are there any RTH member trips planned to these locations for Summer 2019?
A couple friends and I are planning an adventurous trip. Note that I am about 15 years younger than they are, but they are more physically young than I am.
We would leave via vehicle from the Manitowoc, WI area. Travel around Southern Lake Michigan and into Lower Michigan. Then travel mostly up the West Coast of MI. Thankfully, both of them are experienced Chicago area drivers. We might be renting/borrowing a motor home for the trip and trailering a car. One of the participants cannot do tent camping.
We want to hit the area from Frankfort to Petoskey, maybe further North, for sure. Any good locations South of there we should check out?
I really think this is going to be a too much of a trip for us, length wise, but they want to do it. Leaving planning up to me. I also need to provide them with an estimate of days it will take.
Neither of them is game to take the Manitowod-Luddington Ferry, due mostly to cost.
We all have animals, so that comes into play, as they would need to be kenneled or have someone watching them while we were gone. I am the only one who works, and I have no vacation time. Thinking a 4-5 day trip is what we could do, if my employer agrees to not schedule me for certain days.
So, please provide some suggestions on locations and campgrounds with hook-ups. Even say that this type of trip cannot be done in the time allowed. I just do not want them to be disappointed. Both are very much into rocks. Both have some latent, but serious medical conditions. For them this would be an almost life long dream realized. Both never know how much longer they will be alive. Could be days, could be years.
I have told both about the wonderful members of RTH. They would love to park the motor home in a members driveway for the night, instead of in a RV/campground park. They both want to meet other rock peoples, as I am the only one they now know.
Thank you
