Wow.......not to be to critical, but I've been vibing with TV-5 bowls for almost two years now. Never had a situation like that ever happen.......a few messes when I've over filled with material or liquid when performing a cleaning cycle after grinds, but nothing on that scale of spillage.
My best guesses would be that the lid was not initially tightened down adequately and you over did the liquid volume......or your lid/bowl has warped in some fashion and will not seat properly........or your shaft/bolt threads have worn and are loosening during the cycle. It's wise to check on the nut tightness occasionally during the cycle run.
Even a bent shaft could cause your problem.........but you'd notice that right away..........sometimes even screwing down the bolt too tight will cause the center of the lid to compress causing the lid edges to bulge.....thus, leaving gaps around edges.
Try reducing the liquid volume and developing a "dryer" thicker slurry. Vibes are more efficient with little to no standing liquid on the bottom of the bowl...... for every grind and polish cycle...........just a thought.
Note:
If the bolt threads have worn, try flipping it over and tightening it down with the rubber flange being on top.......don't worry about using the little blue bolt cap.....I've never used them.

It called for a 1/4” of water in the bottom of the bowl That is all the water in it the nuts are tight It must be a bad bowl and lid I can’t keep The water in it as you can see by the photo I just bought this tumbler new last week

I'll assume you've checked the bowl lid alignment when dry and empty......since it is new, the ridges or lid flange should seat into the bowl groove along the top lip of the bowl evenly without compression. Once tightened down, the lid should not have any gaps around the bowl and should be tight enough to be difficult to spin/slide around atop of the bowl..... It is not a completely water tight fit, but it should not seep like yours did.....that has been my experience with all 3 of the TV-5 bowls I own.
Regarding the liquid volume........many bowl vibe rock tumbling manufacture user guides are misleading. Lyman (Raytech) is no exception....!
Vibe tumbling requires the same effort of liquid and media balance to achieve a good slurry same as a rotary........meaning, a sticky, fluid, creamy (thin pancake batter) like slurry must be achieved. Vibes achieve this in a different manner than a rotary, but arrive to the balance faster. In a Vibe, starting out a little dry and adding liquid in very small increments over two to three hour intervals will manage the slurry development better........Like I have stated a number of times here at RTH, "Vibe slurry development is more of an Art rather than a Science".....!
No two bowls of any stone and or media material I've tumbled (regardless of the precise and exact procedures I've taken or duplicated) have developed a slurry at the same rate or speed......close, but never exactly the same as previous like cycles.
There's a reason many folks stay away from BOWL vibe tumbling.......it takes baby sitting the first couple of hours (and then some) to achieve a good slurry balance and proper internal stone rotation......... but once it gets going right, it's fast and the results are fantastic....IMHO.
Me thinks your bowl and lid are fine........try reducing your stone volume to 75%-80% of the bowl capacity, wet the stones in the bowl (with a spray bottle) before adding media, run the vibe a few min's to get an even moisture on all stones then start adding media slowly to the batch. Let it run without the lid on for a few more min's. all of your stone should now be covered with a thin layer of media. I start with a table spoon (all cycles) for a full bowl (enough so you cannot see the rock color very well).........the stones should be tumbling pretty fast at first. Once they start slowing down add enough sprays to get them moving along.
Put the lid on and monitor every couple of hours........it may help (after awhile) once the slurry starts to thicken, to take a plastic spoon (I use chop-sticks) to mix the bowl up occasionally......if you added a little too much media........to error on the good side.......just add a little more liquid sparingly.........not so much you're busting at the seams like that mess you had posted.
Hope this works for ya.......happy to help another Vibe tumbling technician......!
This is an example of a good slurry balance....after about 30min's from start........my current (Utah/Lavic material pre-polish stage with ceramics and 1000AO).....no soap, Borax or thickners.........!
I'm gonna try this again......was able to get a link to work previously.......will try that method again.........
Would appreciate feed back from anyone viewing this thread.......did the link hook-up.....?
Ok now.....got it to work...........thanks.
This will run for about + 12hrs......then same routine with Covington's Gold polish #2.......pits, fractures and all...!
