Hi all. Know that I might have exceeded the tolerance of others for ID requests based on lack of responses for my most recent ones, but this one is very important. Also understand that this is not a beading forum. Purchased this 36" strand yesterday for $5.00. Thought it was Lapis Lazuli at the time in limited light and I was having a bad vision day. Now am unsure. Appears to be a mix of various blue rocks. Please let me know what you see here. Whatever it is, I am happy with the purchase. Thank you so much.

Variations consistent with sodalite.

It looks like it could be more than one type of stone. Could you post a picture with a close up section of the necklace so we can see the stones better?
From these pictures, I'm thinking perhaps dumortierite and/or sodalite.

I have some sodalite chip beads that are identical.

If you happen to have a UV light, Sodalite should fluoresce orange.

The good news for you is that sodalite is a component of lapis. :-)
All you need now is some lazurite, calcite and pyrite, put 'em all in a blender, and viola....

Here's mine. Sodalite beads, not chips. Picked this up at the swap meet a while back for 50 cents. Just somebody's junk, but I like it!

Hmmm, maybe. I'm no expert. For 50 cents, I don't much care what they are, lol.
Liked them as beads, just haven't done anything with them... Yet.

Still doing last minute stuff, I hope I have everything all packed when Bob gets home...

I have some denim lapis that looks a lot like that. And looks like the chips I got. And some other unknown tumbles/rocks. And.....
Agree. Positive ID often does not matter, as long as one is happy with the purchase. On these I needed an ID and feel confident it is Sodalite.
