I kept thinking BE would do a post on our new toy, but since she hasn't, guess it's up to me!
Saturday before last, after an afternoon of cutting rocks, we bid on a gem and rock cutter on eBay. Actually, we were bidding on two of them. There was one BE really liked and one I really liked and both were $43.00 when we started bidding with about an hour left to go. We got into a bidding war with the same person on both of them. When both got up to $70.00 we decided to just bid on one and win it. We went for the one BE liked and it was neck and neck until the last minute and I do mean the LAST minute. At 2 minutes to go, we were the high bidders and were so excited, then with ONE minute to go, we were outbid! GRRRR! So, we went back to the one I liked and had ten minutes to go on that one. We placed another bid and were the high bidders. Fortunately, I guess the fella we were bidding against was happy with the one he won because he didn't place any more bids on the other one, so we won that auction! It has a blade and also comes with grinding wheel, rubber wheel and fine grit sand paper for wheel.
Then Sunday night, after an afternoon of rock cutting, I was browsing ebay and came across a STI lapdary multigrinder for $25.00. I raised the bid to $26.00, mainly out of curosity to see if someone had placed a max bid, I didn't plan on placing another bid and forgot about it til Monday am when I checked my mail and saw the email confirming my $26.00 bid. I figured that during the night I had been outbid and went to ebay to see what the current bid was. Since we had just got the other grinder, I wasn't going to try to win this one. I was just curious. I discovered that, with only 30 minutes to go, I was still the winning bidder. I figured for sure someone would outbid me, but the auction ended and I had won! I couldn't believe it!
So, now BE and I have two saws and two grinders! We gonna be cuttin' and shapin' fools, kinda like Sandsman!
;D
Ever since he started his First Attempt thread of all his freeform cabs, I have been lusting for a grinder! I can't wait til we get ours and can go to work grindin'!
OOPS! I almost forgot. We also went to the rock shop again Saturday morning. I can't remember what all BE got - some more picture rock and some tiger's eye I know for sure. She'll have to fill ya' in on what else.
I got some picture rock, tiger's eye, Brazilian agate, some really nice agatized pet wood, more parrot rock, and some golden wood. And, two motors for my old/new 33Bs. Still have a wobby barrel on one of them, the other is up and running.
Got enough rocks to keep me busy cuttin'', grindin' tumblin' and craftin' for a year or more!
Dang, this rock tumbling addition is as expensive as drug addiction, but much healthier and alot more fun!
