i did a bunch of glue things today, and as usual, got glue everywhere (the cat narrowly escaped).....but i managed to make some magnets and some pins (all still drying, that 330 epoxy takes forever), anyway, i got this keychain blank from Fire Mountain and added the stone and bead.... not sure how well it will hold up as a functional thing, but it will make a nice Christmas present. thanks for looking, KD

N I C E, KD, very, very nice!
I bought stuff to do keychains with ages ago and have I done any? NO! I have done some magnets though - even sold a few at the City Wide Garage Sale. They will probably be Christmas for all the folks I clean house for. They all have fridge magnets and none of them are as pretty as my rock magnets!

Gotta sit down and decide what I want from the Fire Mountain catalog. They have oodles of stuff and I want it all! LOL!

KD that's really cool. More ideas, can't wait to see the magnets and pins. Still need to get me some of that 300 epoxy stuff.

G.W.A.U! (Great work as usual!) ;D I've seen those keychains but I'm too cheap to pay their prices...now I can see I may have been a little shortsighted. good stuff kiddo.

Good work. I like the concept. The 300 series of epoxy is nothing more than what is known as basic epoxy. Any 2hr. epoxy will do the trick. Home Depot, Ace, Lowes, Walmart, Kmart. It is pretty inexpensive. Ten minute is a no-no, quick set also. It will not thin enough for a stone setting. The basic epoxy thins enough in pre exothermic setting to enter minor inclusions. it then expands slightly. Any slow set epoxy will do the trick. Might be less expensive than Fire Mountain Gems, or at least more convient and quicker to get.

Now that's good to know, I never did find the 300 on their website so was going to go thru the catalog. Guess I'll check at the local hardware store instead. Thanks Doc!
KD you must have buckets of beads the way you can match any stone you get. How long did it take you to collect all of them?

thanks all for nice comments...
Cher, i guess i've been a beader since my days in high school, little hippy dippy girl doing macrame and seed beed jewelry. i had a little fishing tackle box and a container that had little drawers....i went over to pottery for a long time and put all the beading stuff in a box. well, i kept that box of bits and pieces, through countless years, moves and relocations.
when i quit my job two years ago to save my sanity and to spend some time with my elderly parents, i dug out that box.....then one day, my husband came home with a Fire Mountain catalog ( a move he's regretted ever since, haha)......and i've been seriously beading ever since. when i started tumbling, it was a natural progression to incorporate the stones to the beads.
and yes, i have containers of beads and findings up the whazoo, hahaha, but never enough!
