here are a few necklaces i finished today, here is a sodalite piece: mex lace koi jasper (i think?) the larger beads are really a lot pinker than that, could be the lighting or perhaps the background... another mex lace and the close up of the stone as you can see i've been ramping up production for Christmas...Thursday night i show some to perspective buyer, thanks for looking, KD

WOW...GWAU! How do you decide how far down into the stone to drill the hole...is there a rule of thumb or do you just go by feel?

sigh i have to look at them over and over and over. you used those frosty matte beads again. i'm gonna have to get some of those - i really like the way they look. is the cream/bone bead mother of pearl? i like it too. kd i almost missed it but you cabbed all those stones didn't you!?! i'm afraid the men in white jackets are gonna show up and try to make me leave the genie alone lol.
what length did you use when you made the necklaces for shorty's grandkids?
post some more - i just love to look! you ought to rack up here at christmas time. the lady that got the necklace for a birthday gift last week called and ordered a necklace for her daughter-in-law today and i took sand's daughters necklace with me to daisy scouts so i could try it on a human model and it sold me another. i'll post a pic of it in a bit and then it's off to sands to give to his daughter.

Absolutely awesome. How long did it take you to learn about the mixing and matching of colors?

hey all, thanks for all the kind comments, and questions!
Herm, i drill as close to the edge as i feel safe to.....so i guess it's be eye and by feel. the little jig that i have takes a while to set up, but it's fairly accurate.
Cookie, i rarely make anything less than 16" nor more than 18", with exceptions, of course. will try and put in a refernce marker next time....
Kim, those creamy bone beads are called River Stone in the Fire Mountain catalog and this is the first time i've used them. i like them a lot as they match the mex lace so well. i didn't cab those stones, those are preformed on the saw, tumbled and drilled. i still am practicing on the Genie. Erring on the side of caution with Shorty's grand daughters, i made those slightly less than 16" but only just.
Cher, i have never taken any formal instruction on color matching, i guess it's just something you acquire over time. everyone has their own color sense, i think, and i used to work with some fairly talented interior designers, maybe some of their talent rubbed off on me?
thanks again, everyone, KD
