I walk past this at least twice a day to do chores. Each time, I have to stop and examine it, as I keep noticing something new. Estimated date of construction is 1902. The rocks are mostly granite, but it also contains schist, quartz, sugar quartz, fossils, chert, jasper, banded iron and others. The largest rocks have about an 18” area exposed. The lower level of the barn has walls made from the same material. Those who settled here made good use of what was here. The huge fireplace in my living room is made from the same types of rocks. Thanks for looking into my world of rocks.        |

Last photo, small rock on right, has areas of agate formations and quartz crystal pockets. Will try to get a clear photo of that when it is warmer.

Nice Now that's a collection you will always be able to find, you'll never have to clean them either you have mother nature to do that for you.

The rocks are solid. The mortar is not in places.
Nope, will never lose it for sure.

I've always thought an old silo would make an awesome slab saw shed. Yours even more with it's construction.

A piece of American history. Barns like this are works of art and exemplify our forefather's fortitude and determination.
I'd be stud framing and heavily insulating a living space in that beautiful structure.
