I started sorting through my modest collection of rough yesterday and set aside pieces to start slab cutting......:
Under that pile, I pulled out a piece of Utah material that I had second thoughts about.......: Picture taken previously under another thread.
I took out a small chisel and started poking around debating whether or not to hack it. On further inspection, at one end of the stone I started to notice a nodule shape appearing........so I carefully dug/chipped around it......once I started digging a little deeper a small whole emerged. So I cleaned around it, hit it with an LED flashlight and low and behold it sparkled.....!
I got distracted by a "Papa Day Care" issue.....so never took pictures of the rough but managed to dig out the nodule, clean it up a bit, Dremel cut around the cracked half and polished up the edges very late last night.
Outside surface
Inside sparkle
I have no way to explain this.......Never even considered a "Geo" would be embedded in that material.....and unfortunately, my son and I only collected one other large piece like this........nope, already cracked it......nice but no surprises.
It most certainly made my (day)....week of "Papa Day Care" more pleasant........lol
