I'm presently on the mend from carpal tunnel surgery, w/ a Guyon's release thrown in. My hope is to be able to hold onto rocks again to continue carving fire agate. You have some stellar looking rough there- I look forward to seeing how they progress- Good Luck and have FUN!

Well I hope you get better soon. So you can rock on. I need to lean from others how best to finish these first before I go any further. So it will be awhile before I finish any I need to get a bur set first thing so I can play properly.

Thank you dave1 for pointing out hairlines are where the fire is hiding. I am gonna work on those weaker spots see if I can bring them up.

Fire agate question Have went from 14000 diamond past to tin oxide polish. Are these microscopic pin holes from the pin fire I polished out. Yes there are a few scratches from can king that I have and still taking my time to publish out. Do I keep moving on to finer diamond past to remove pin holes that's what I am thinking of doing once scratches are all gone. I think there is a improvement in color and pattern and it is time consuming to do it right. The first is with 14000 diamond past the second is with tin oxide polish.

These pin holes are very hard to see with loupe but throw a little sunlight and camera on it and they look like moon craters

Very cool, I have some fire agate but haven't worked it yet, maybe one day. Glad you are venturing forth and working yours.

New fire agate I am using the hone block to shape and get down to the fire in a new fire agate. I am starting to like fire agate so far. I am showing start to finish on this. I am using the sunlight to show how clear some of this is. I am using high tech tools on this Hone block has (200)-300-400-(600 grit) Then 600 diamond paste for creveases Small agate slab and 1200 wet & dry Then 14000 diamond paste Then either 60000 diamond paste or Tim oxide to final polish.

The fire is still pretty deep, the creveases need more claening. All the fire is hiding in that dark line , looks like it's going all the way into the end. I hope I have a couple more as clear as this one with better fire.
