I was surprised how this picture came out with a dirty lens. Looking West across the Pacific Ocean.

Stunning. To me, the purple spots in the photo enhance it. I miss the blue herons I used to watch when living on the lake. Now I just see them fly overhead.

Very nice picture. Where you located for this picture? This was from the Oregon Coast. We have a lot of Heron and Egret around here. They are fun to watch when they are fishing. Thanks for the comments.

Love watching Herons fishing,. I was in a Disney resort / hotel complex in Fla. a few years ago and feeding a couple Ducks some Buns left over from supper. A white egret landed near my feet and ran off the Mallards , grabbed a piece of bun and promptly dropped it in the water about 6 inches from shore and then stood there and watched it intently. About 10 seconds later he snatched out a small Bluegill that came up for the Bread. while he wolfed down the fish more came up and finished off the bread. As soon as he realized the bread was gone he returned and stood with his beak open, guess what he wanted ? This went on for quite some time and gathered quite a crowd and some even went so far as to go back into the restaurant to get more buns. Sorry to hijack this post but the picture of the Blue Heron got me wondering , again, was that Snowy Egret still able to fly back up to his evening roost after he ate all those Bluegills ?

amygdule truly gorgeous image. Thanks for sharing. agatemaggot I am impressed how quickly that heron trained you to do his bidding. Makes me reconsider "The Hitchhikers Guide" revelation that laboratory mice control the universe from the safety of their enclosures. 😎
