All, As a result of a different USPS thread, I spent some time on the 'net to see what I could see. I came across a USPS press release that spoke to increased rate charges as of 01-27-19. Many of us use flat rate postage, so I found this significant. What I'm providing below is what has been proposed. Frankly, I see no reason for the increases to not go through. I don't know if this has been approved yet, though all indications are that it will take place. So, for the vendors that have webpages or accounts for shipping, you might want to take note of what may be coming down the road. Here are examples of what I found from a USPS press release: Product Current Proposed
Small Flat Rate Box $7.20 $7.90 Medium Flat Rate Box $13.65 $14.35Large Flat Rate Box $18.90 $19.95APO/FPO Large Flat Rate Box $17.40 $18.45Regular Flat Rate Envelope $6.70 $7.35Legal Flat Rate Envelope $7.00 $7.65Padded Flat Rate Envelope $7.25 $8.00
The USPS press release is here.I'm going to "sticky" this info in the marketplace. If anyone sees any updates, please add to this thread. Add to this with useful information and try to limit commentary. Thanks and regards. ETA: I'm not sure how the formatting for the columns will work. I had to edit while I wrote and then change things after I posted. I'd suggest looking at the link.

They keep raising prices and more people will go to alternative shipping methods such as UPS and FedEx. The Post Office better wake up before they run themselves out of business.

Please, limit comments about the rate increases. I'd like to try to keep this as streamlined as possible if new information is added. Thanks.

Yes, an increase was approved by the PRC on the 13th of last month. The final new rates were posted December 4. There are still discounts for folks who buy online, commercial discounts, etc.

alternative shipping methods such as UPS and FedEx. USPS.com Cheapest to all address world wide. Japan bought 3 decades of lapidary journals, Costumer ask i send UPS. the price 256.00 for single box, wt was over 50 lbs. USPS.com 3 single Med-flat rate boxes at that time were $49.50 a unit x 3 max wt. of 20 lbs per-box.
FEDEX.com about 150% higher
UPS.com check prices.
This is a rare time ( .GOV ) pays OFF. to use!
High grade rock hunting starts at the road to the dig site.
Cost to sell on line x beer food gas time.
Cost you save on postage. runs down hill to your account for more dig site returns.
Check lapidaryrough.com ( New listing for slabs an p-wood Oregon Wood.) for the cost i spend on rock hunting, reflects on the price i charge. i drink water
Subaru Brat 1982 gets grate mileage, Though the meat wt. to metal ratio is 7-1. i run 700 lbs. in the toy car. If i only had orange hair to go with 15D shoes. I could be Trump dumb clown!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
Nice to see finger first brain last / when posting to the world in type.

Just noticed a footnoted change for Priority Mail that will affect people who ship in larger boxes (does not apply to Flat Rate boxes). For boxes greater than 1 cubic foot, if the box is being delivered to zones 5–9, the postage is now based on the actual weight or the dimensional weight (whichever is greater). Although I can see the reasoning behind it, most folks aren't going to do the math and may be in for a shock after toting a lightweight, but large, box to the Post Office counters. Shipping that 12"x12" dried flower arrangement cross-country may cost more than it's worth.

I've just noticed that First Class package had a huge increase as well. I ship cabochons First Class in padded envelopes and the following is the increase I see: up to and including 4 oz - was $2.66, now $3.09 5 oz up to 8 oz - was $2.79, now $3.63 That's a large percentage increase to absorb for someone like me who gives free shipping standard
