I like how the cells show up with a macro photo. There is a reason they call this stuff "Golden oak"

That's a pretty sweet hunk of wood! The macro shot was thrown in to show you what a macro lens can do, to go to the next level you need some type of microscope. I can't post a photo in a reply tho.

Sweet! Looks like a great shelf specimen for your museum. The macro photo is cool too.

Beautiful stuff. Where does the name, "stinking water" come from?

A location name, Stinking Water, OR. Near Prineville. Locations in area
Way back, legendary mountain man John Colter dubbed what is now called the Shoshone River the "Stinking Water" because of the sulphurous gases emanating from hot springs and other geothermal features along the river. from Summitpost.org
Whoops, THAT Stinking Water is in Wyoming. Well, you get the idea... About a half hour north of San Diego, in the city of Carlsbad, you will find the Agua Hedionda lagoon. It means "smelly water" in Spanish, located where the Agua Hedionda river dumps into the ocean. A brackish backwater.

Beautiful stuff. Where does the name, "stinking water" come from? Comes from the Stinking Water Mountains east of Burns, Oregon. I have never seen any stinking water there tho!!

Drooling over your chunks of oak you have. Very impressed. This is my most prized piece.
