Hi Ho, Hi Ho, a flinting I will go! Decided I would take a walk down to flint hill with my handy, dandy little red Ace Hardware bucket. Filled my bucket up and could have filled several more. Too much flint, not enough buckets! Here's some pics. Flint Hill Lottsa flint underfoot. Max likes flint hill too Here's pics of some big pieces that landed in my bucket. This first piece has two small rows of crystals in the top left corner. Unfortunately, they don't show up in the pic. 'cuse the dirt! ] [img src="http://img.pho img.photobucket.com/albums/v497/llanago/Flint.jpg"] That's all folks! llana

OOOHHH Llana, you know how I loooove that flint! I'm listing the pieces I made from flint you sent me as "Texas Flint". If I list it as "Llana flint", can I get a discount on one of those big ole chuncks? ;D By the way, I have some little chunks of that orangey quartz you like. Theyre not very bif (I tumbled them, but still too big for pendents), if you want them IM me with your addy (again) and I'll send them to you.

Cookie, I had Stoner in mind when I picked up those big pieces, but there's always more where that came from. In fact, I probably don't even have to go down to Flint Hill, since almost all the rocks around my flowerbeds are flint. You know I will be happy to send you some. As I said before, I got big pieces, I got little pieces, I got medium sized pieces - just let me know what size you want. I also have about half of one of those grocery thermal bags of smaller pieces I picked up for Cher - and whoever wants some. I'm always up for a trade! Got some cool hematite fro Cher in a trade. Of course, if I don't send her the flint she's gonna give me a big negative rating! I'd love some of that quartz. I have several pieces I want to use in a necklace - just have to either learn to drill a hole or order some bell caps - forgot about those when I ordered the other stuff! DUH! Cher, I do plan on getting yours in the mail to you Monday. But, ya' need to IM me your address. I thought you had sent it, but couldn't find it in my IM's and it wasn't on the box. llana

Ooooo look at all them rocks and sunshine, I want to come visit you Llana ... ;D I sent my addy to you, I'm sorry about the addy, I thought I put a sticker on under the paper with your addy on it. I can't wait to get that flind, I want to compare it to some stuff I found up here. I think it might be flint but I'm not sure. ;D And I wouldn't give you a bad rating *smile*. Cher

Those are very pretty rocks! I realize how redundant my posts get, but I really think I've picked up some of this too. It looks a lot like it. So maybe now I can identify flint. Maybe.

puppies, this weekend I am going to go thru the bag of smaller stuff I have collected for Cher. I always wash them before sending - no need to pay for shipping the dirt! I'll take a few pics and post them. Most of the smaller ones I pick up have less matrix and more flint showing. You probably do have flint in your area. I think it can be found just about everywhere if one looks hard enough. Although some of this stuff I call flint may be chocolate agate. The guy that manages the RV park is quite knowledgable about rocks and their ID - he used to be in mining. He said there is alot of chocolate agate around here and that it's really hard to distinguish the difference between it and flint. llana

There's something to be said for only having to walk to the driveway to fill the tumbler.

Hi Llana, before finding all the agates, several prior rockhunts in local rivers turned up a lot of nice looking stuff that I believe contains a lot of flint. One of the colors is a deep chocolate brown -- maybe the same thing? Looking forward to checking out your photos.
