Hi all. Living close to a rock shop is fun. Thank goodness I've got some (very little) self control. Stopped by today and found these agates in the $1.oo/lb bin and finally broke down and bought some of their Poppy Jasper,@$8.50/lb. I think I'll just drive the 25min and go pick up the poppy jasper for free next time. Red and yellow is store bought-the white and grey and black is a piece I found earlier this year. assorted agates Don't know what this, it has nice dark crystals backlit agate slice That's what they look like in the rough. Gonna finish cutting them up to either tumble or slab, and will post them when they are polished. Ed sorry 'bout the size of the pics, I thought I resized them.

And I'd be right there beside you KD. I'd have to get a job there to feed my habit. ;D
Ed, those agates are great, that big slice you have that you can see through is so neat! I love that white /gray/black one you found, I think that's beautiful. You didn't mention the name of this place though, are they online? Is that first agate a thunderegg? Is there anyway to try and get those crystals out of that rock, those are really neat. Where did you find that one?

Nice stuff all around, but I especially like the poppy jasper and the big white and grey block in the top pic.

Hi all. Rosebud, the name of the shop is Wenrics, and they do have a website, but it's not a very good one. I didn't even know they were a rock shop and I've been going to a store two doors away for years. The sign outside says "Jewelry Repair". The guy I see all the time says he has crates of rocks in his backyard, stacked 3 high and 3 deep and about 50 long! I told him he better hope I don't find out where he lives ;D I haven't done anything with that rock with the crystals yet. I'm not sure what will happen if I cut into it. Something to ponder. Rollingstone, the red and yellow poppy jasper came from the same area I found the grey/white poppy jasper, Morgan Hill, Ca. It used to be plentiful but these days it is pretty scarce, hence $8.50/lb. I plan on going back there soon and hunt for some more of it and maybe get lucky and find some of the red and yellow.

Great looking rocks, Ed! I like them all, but the assorted agates really caught my eye. Can't wait to see what you do with them!
