My neice's husband is a pastor/missionary. He went to South Africa in June and is in Pakistan now. I always have such a hard time shopping for any of my family, so this year am making all their gifts, using my rocks, of course. Here's what I have made for him. The Bible verse is John 11:24-26. "I am the resurrection, and the life: he that believeth in me, though he were dead, yet shall he live" I printed on photo paper, the cross will be glued on top of the glass. I didn't glue any of the rocks yet because I might decide to switch them around when I take another look at it tomorrow. I planned to very gently move it from the table to a spot on the floor by the llittle cabinet I keep all the glue and stuff in. I made it all the way over there then bumped into the recliner when putting it on the floor and rocks went everywhere! Oh well, at least the glass didn't get broken! llana

Llana, What a terrific idea, sorry it went all over like that, what a pain when you're trying to be so careful. What is the base of it made of? Is that some kind of wood that you routered and stained or? It looks really nice.

Thanks Stoner. I have had doing something like this in mind for several months. Esp. after a friend of mine told me she saw something similar a lady had done with shells and was selling for $30.00! After I get thru Christmas I am going to make a few and see if I can put them on consignment at the Christian book store. Probably won't put a $30.00 price tag on them though - $12 to $15 seems more reasonable. Cher, I would like to tell you I had cut, sanded, routed ad stained the base myself - but that would be a whopper and a half! Actually, it is a green picture frame I got at Family Dollar for a whopping $2.00. I do have alot of wood out back that I am planning to use for similar type things - in fact, this afternoon may pull out a piece and lay the rocks on it and see what I like best. As far and the rocks going everywhere - not really a big deal. I just have to put them all back on and except the cross part, it won't really matter if they are in the same spot or not. This time I will glue them though! llana
