I am not sure what kind of rock it is....but we really like this one. I had to do a little grinding on one side because it had a small crack in it right where I wanted to drill the hole..so I used my diamond bit and cleaned off the white edge a bit and drilled the hole in a different spot than I realy wanted to. Still we think it will make one very nice necklace..just need to find the right beads to use. I will post a pic of it as soon as we get it done. Thanks everyone for your kind words...means a lot to me.

Definitely some kind of agate, looks really nice too. How many stages do you have left? I was told that it's best to drill after all the stone is finished so there's no chance of grit getting stuck in the hold. Be sure to clean it out really well between whatever stages you have left. Can't wait to see the finished necklace.
Cher
PS ... Looked back and saw you only have the final polish to go. DuH!!
PSS ... What did you drill it with?

That stone has been thru all the stages at least once. I had to do a little grinding on the sides to remove a little piece that had cracked...right where I wanted to drill the hole too. So after cleaning up the edges and drilling the hole I figured I'd send it thru the polish stage one more time... I used a small diamond bit to drill the hole. Got two packs of 20 bits for $25 and now I think I found some for only $6..will look at them today....

Of all the clubs I can think of (Struck more than once by lightning club; first time mother's over 50 club for exampe) you are now a member of the coolest club going. And it's addictive! Great job and congrats on the membership (btw...do we need some sort of initiation ritual?)

Hello Pho,
Yea, you really have to watch them wife's ... If I did not keep track of the stones I finish ... they would all end up missing ;D
But, after all ... they are worth their weight in gold. The wife's that is ;D
That looks great and you have done a very nice job with it.
