Since I've been enjoying bsky4463's collages, and it is a rainy, dreary day here*, I thought I would entertain myself (and hopefully some of you, as well), and create my own slab collage:
SlabCollage by Stephan Telm, on Flickr Clockwise starting at the top left corner: sodalite, silver lace "onyx", Stone Canyon-type jasper ("Autumn leaves"), Rainbow "onyx", Sandy Mesa agate, dinosaur bone, Bulico jasper, Cady Mountains agate, Indonesian River orbicular jasper, Owyhee flower jasper, Hornitos poppy jasper, Pseudo-tiger's eye with plume agate, and (centered) unknown agate. * Don't get me wrong, I'm grateful for any water we get.

That's cool, like a cold, hard quilt.

Psuedo tiger eye with plume agate. Where do folks find this stuff. Heck if I know. I bought it at a show. The stuff is odd. At first glance it looks like tigers eye. Then you notice it isn’t chatoyant. Verdict appears to be that it’s something like kaolin clay deposits. Probably no lapidary potential, but still kind of cool.
