If the pellets are getting stuck, that might be a good thing. Happens to me all the time. Protects the crystals I want to keep. I have some slender tweezers I can use to remove the pellets, but usually do not. Funny, but they stay intact during the Borax cleaning runs. I do eventually remove them for final polish. The crystals are just fine.

Hey Chuck- yep, no vibe tumbler. Still on the list. When I've used plastic pellets and have rocks in the tumbler with holes (crystal or otherwise), pellets get stuck in the holes also and protect them also. I think a vibe would do best, I may just have to try the dremel for now. I was more concerned with saving the patterns than the crystals but I think now I'd like to save both. I do not think there is any magic going on in the vibe. Other than saving time and grit I think the same result could be achieved in the rotary for this application. Because stage one is skipped the rock should maintain its shape pretty well. I should add that my saw does not leave any marks and produces about a 400 finish. If a tile saw was used and left you with saw marks then that is a whole different animal. Chuck Yessir, I used a tile saw. Plenty of saw marks, plenty of uneven cuts.

No pellets in what I'm currently running, just pea size gravel. Still experimenting.

Here's a picture I took last night and cropped to show the fortification a little better. I never know how the pics will look when I upload them to RTH so hopefully it's decent... Yowzah!
