Late to the party, but here goes anyway... What about using fine rawhide or sinew on a stone with a Southwestern theme? The old vaqueros were masters at braiding with rawhide and made incredible works of art in lariets, bridles, and other items. If you used wet rawhide it should shrink to make a tight fit on the stone. I can see where fine rawhide braiding on a stone would be attractive to a certain crowd.
