thanks all!
kd i bought some drill bits for the dremel at walmart to drill in wood - like a pack of 5 in graduated sizes - i use the 2nd to the smallest. set a piece of 2x4 on the kitchen counter so i don't drill the counter and drill right through - nothing like the rocks at all - you're through in a nanosecond. and you get a little whiff of that burning wood smell for just a second - i love that smell.

I love it! Very well done. Are you going to sell the chimes?

I like that, definitely the way I'd go if I get into making any of them.

Hey Kim, I really like your windchimes! Have you thought about including a "knocker"?

Hey Kim, many windchimes have a horizontal piece in the middle that the surrounding vertical pieces "knock" against. I just thought maybe a horizontal piece of rock hanging in the middle might be effective. Maybe it could be something other than Agate. Might be worth a try.

You could always call them "Tommyknocker" wind chimes after the Stephen King book.

I guess marketing them as "Kim's really big knockers" is a bad idea, eh? don't mind me...I must be tired.

Way cool Kim. For a minute there I thought you hung some slices of uncooked red meat instead of agates. Especially since you said you work in your kitchen. I like both styles. I've heard them at a friends house, and they do sound cool. Ed

Hey Kim, how thick do you make your slices of Agate?

lol @ stoner - they do look like meat.
ron - i don't have a slab saw yet so i bought mine already sliced - they are 1/8" thick. but when i get my slab saw i'm going to slice them myself.
