Addicting info. Watched about half of it. Amazing that something like was found.

No DNA yet on the two groups so we are not sure who they were.

No DNA yet on the two groups so we are not sure who they were. Since the bones from the earlier settlement have been fossilized by minerals in the lake water, it's unlikely any DNA will ever be found in them. Maybe deep inside them, but that would probably require destructive searching.

It is just amazing that this was found. Not just amazing that the skeletons were found, but that environmental conditions needed to be absolutely perfect for the preservation to have occurred. Had the lake not risen, the earlier bones would not have fossilized. Had the climate not changed from wet to dry, there would have been no desiccation/preservation of the later burials.

DNA has been recovered from the teeth of older skeletons.

True, but it depends on how deeply the mineral replacement penetrated beyond the enamel during fossilization and how many teeth the scientists are willing to drill into and test.

Amazing in the sense that the conditions were right for the bones to be preserved. The winds uncovered them and they were found by someone who understood the significance.
Also, that the sight was not destroyed in the past.

It'll be interesting to see what else they find out from the remains. One side of me was thinking that the woman and children may have been killed or sacrificed that position. But, we will probably never know.
