Oh. My. Goodness! Those are gorgeous! It took you seven years of tumbling? They started as approximately forty pounds of rough. They now fit in a three pound butter container although they weigh closer to ten pounds. Garnets are tough and they required a lot of splitting cracks to get to where they are. Almost everyone of them shows a star. Stars are sometimes hard to see on baroques. The oval cab is 20 ct.

7 years of tumbling there. MsAli I am assuming not 7 years straight? Did you self collect them?

Pretty much 7 years straight. All were self collected. Tumbled in a 3 pound lortone. They pretty much wore the tumbler out. I still have a lot of rough but they are cabbing pieces. Looking forward to working on them now that I’m retired. These are some pretty nice 12 sided crystals, (dodecahedrons).

Atsa lotta garnets! Some great stars, too. Nice pics, I seldom can get the stars to show up in photos.

Marvelous stones and sheer deliberation of focus over a long period of time. Hats off to you.

Holy smokes, those are beautiful! Kudos on the tenacity to actually spend 7 years of your life on one project. Thank you for sharing these.
Hope you will post the star cabs when you cut them.

hummingbirdstonesyou know how tumbling is. Check them once a week. If they’re ready they move on.

Love stacked orbs, and those are delicious! Bruneau colors usually remind me of those old-time caramel candies with cream centers: jasper may not taste as good, but the candy never had as good patterns.

Your material and dedication is amazing. I did not know that Star Garnet even existed. The cabs are beautiful.
