Great pictures - thanks for sharing them and glad you got home safely. Looking forward to my box of Dallasite! Thanks! They're all in the mail and should be there by next week. I always confuse myself mailing things but hopefully we got it all right. If anyone isn't happy we will reimburse completely anyway.

What a neat place to look for rocks!
Why don't you collect flower stone anymore? I really like it.
Looking forward to my box of Dallasite. Thanks.

I haven't seen a lot of interest in flowerstone, as I don't think it's usually that smooth/harder to shine, and there is a lot of bad flowerstone compared to the rarer good ones. More of a landscaping rock I think. I found one creek bedded with boulders of it several years ago. Tommy made an excellent cabochon for me in the past though.

Great pictures. I think you've gotten more selective about what you pick up. These all look really good. I bet it was nice having someone with you to carry those buckets, lol

What great photos from your trip. We've always talked about a trip up there someday from down here in the desert.
Have a question about the flowerstone, though. Do you find it with different colors of matrix there? It seems that we've had blacker matrix stone that was a little harder than the lighter matrix with green color.

If you or anyone goes to the island, I can tell you which parts of the coast have the rockiest beaches. Flowerstone has basically always been grey, brown or black for us. The flower type changes, some more concentrated and some more like a fireworks design. Sometimes it's inverted where the flowers are the darker colour and the rest is lighter. But I don't think I have ever seen coloured flowerstone, which sounds quite cool! The darker the basalt (I assume it is basalt on both the dallasite and most flowerstone) the smoother it is I've found, too.

Carrying the buckets is my favourite part actually, great workout. For some reason it took me years but I finally "get it" now with what I'm supposed to be looking for.

A rock pile the size of that one, a dry day, and friends, make for a really good time. You did well, thanks for the show.

Thanks for the Flowerstone info. I think the best black ones always did come from your area.
There is similar rough from other places with a pale greenish color. Most of the green I've worked was softer and more inconsistent. Usually didn't have as many nice flowers, either.
