If you look you will see red spots in the crystals. I was wondering what these were? This was found in Minnesota ...don't know for sure if this is where it originated from but it was found under some heavy vegetation and half buried in dirt. Could these be iron platelettes?

Actually it was found in central MN; 15 miles north of the Twin Cities buried underneath vegetation and half buried in dirt. I suppose someone could have lost it there....now you have me thinking

We find amethyst in the alluvial till all the time (maybe some of the time). Some of the lakers we find have an amethyst center. Largest amethyst I found is the size of a goose egg between Duluth and Aitkin it was buried all but one crystal that caught my eye. My son found a small chunk in St. Cloud. So with the glaciers picking up Canada and moving it south there is a good chance mother nature put it there. Red spots more than likely Hematite.

Ive never found one, now when I go back I have another thing on my list to look for
