one of my friends came over this weekend and wanted one to go by her swimming pool - she chose a teal to coordinate with the pool liner and liked the one i had hanging with the driftwood - she hasn't seen it yet and it's going to be her christmas gift - this is the 1st one i've done that's not the natural colors - i like the natural ones but this should look good by her pool kim

She will definitely love it. The color is pretty but I think I prefer the natural ones too. Wonder if the color really goes all the way through on those dyed ones. Either way, excellent job!!

cher if i understand the dying process correctly they dye the whole nodules before slicing them so yes it goes all the way through but will fade in sunlight and over time.

Hey Kim,
That looks great!
In our part of the Country ... the wind blows so hard that it would knock the dye right out of them!
Thanks for the photo's

harry i bought these in a lot of mixed dyed and natural slices. but from what i've read they boil the whole nodule and then put it it different solutions to create the different colors. here's a link that explains it a little but not nearly enough for me to try it lol galleryvoltaire.com/agates.htmlkim

wiz you'll have to let me know what your son thinks. tell him tomorrow we are giving a couple to my child's teacher and the teacher's aide for their christmas gifts. i hate they will take all their gifts home to open them because we may never know if they like them.
