My hubby says it's kind of weird ... different in a nice way. ;D It's only practice and this wire is a bit heavy to work with. I really like working with the copper though, just need to get some lighter stuff. Front ............................................... Back Anyway, this one went a lot of different ways and it was totally accidental that it ended up like this but I think it's kind of cool. The bail ended up too large to use as a pendant in beading but it would look nice on black leather or even satin. Not this one but perhaps one similar. I found out one thing, I need better tools and not such a heavy hand, I end up marking the wire. Oh well, it's not too bad for a second try. I think with the proper tools, I could really get to like doing this. Thanks for looking.

Hey Cher, I think it looks great. I think you are on your way! My attempts at wire wrapping were with copper wire as well, except mine looked like they were struck by lightning.

Hey Cher, looking good. I've done wire wrapping in the past, nothing that I have tumbled so far. I used to work in a craft store and my boss had me fix a wirewrapped necklace of his wife's. It turned out pretty good. Keep up the great work!

Gettin there, my first ones sure looked an whole lot worse. The top wrap might have gone the other way to balance it out. Big bails look nice with a swirl in front of them. Good job.

cher i like it.
i have a pile of wire in front of me now cher and short pieces that i clipped off and off and off all over the table. how do you wrap around and around so neatly. how can anything that looks so easy be so hard? i would show you the ring i made but it will cause me to start laughing uncontrollably all over again ;D. maybe some day i will catch on to this - or not lol.

I'd like to see your ring Kim, I'd be interested in learning how to do one. I ordered some of that Colour Craft wire from Firemountain so I could have something a little less expensive to practice with. As far as the wraps, I compress them as I go. Do a few times around then push them down as tight as you can. Thanks for the compliments you guys, I appreciate it. Now I can tell my hubby that the gurus approve.

Cher, they are kinda weird! And being the queen of weird, I like them. Much better than my wire wrapping! I can make a bail, but actually wire wrapping a stone is a whole 'nother story!
I love the copper wire. I bought some copper beads and findings and am going to do a necklace in copper as soon as I can figure out what kind of other beads I want to use on it.

I really like it! Different is good! Different is what makes the world go round! VIVE la DIFFERENCE! Good job.
One question...What is everyone's experience with copper. I'd use it more often, but I worry about it turning people green. Any advice (other than coated wire I mean...Ive seen that...anyone use it?).

It's just one Llana, front and back. I don't think I could make another like that if I tried ;D I like the copper too, I ordered some of that colour craft wire (22 g) so I can try again. I'll tell you one thing, trying to get that freaking wire around a polished stone is a miracle in itself! The stone kept taking off like it had wings LOL. Thanks eveyone, your nice replies really give me the encouragement to try again. I've got a pretty nice carmel colored agate that I think will look pretty with silver on it. This one was actually the result of a ton of frustration from trying to drill some stones.

while that green patina that copper acquires with time is sought after when it comes to roofing, it is the bane of this material almost every where else it is used. yes, Herm, it (copper) will turn your skin green where it comes in contact. silver tarnishes over time as well, i've found keeping silver jewelry in sealed plastic bags when not in use delays this inevitable process somewhat.
i've practiced with copper, it's nice to work with and relatively inexpensive (in comparison to real gold or silver), but my efforts usually end up as houseplant decorations, haha.

I've decided not to try any more wire wrapping unless I grow at least two more hands.

LOL Ron you are going to be very dangerous then! ;D
Seems to me that I read somewhere that after a while it quits doing that. I would think a person could spray it with a bit of clear acrylic spray after it's all done and polished. That would at least protect it for awhile.

Your hubby may think it is kind of weird, but I tell you what you did what the wire wanted to do and I think they are great. Keep up the good work and let the wire flow where it may. Yes the wire is a little thick but not bad. Tami / another self taught wrapper

I love it, I'd buy it! Seems that I've heard you can put clear nail polish on copper and it won't turn the skin Well done, I can't wrap to save my life. I've wasted so much wire... cookie

Yes you can use clear nail polish, however, I have found that after wear the clear nail polish will wear off. Tami
