Been feeling pretty lousy lately, and I'm in a "I don't wanna" mood. I've got two places I should go tonight, but I'm tired and sore and cranky. Breaking and shoveling ice half the day. Just want to start yelling, "NO!" like a 2-yr old and have a temper tantrum.

I have the flu. No energy. Boo. Sorry to hear that, hope you feel better soon! It's really bad here, supposedly they're seeing around 35 cases per day- and that's in a town of 6000.

I'm so sore. Thanks! Sore is mostly what my daughter felt, too. Body aches and sore throat, some coughing. She's pretty much over it now, still not much energy though.

Oh no, sorry to hear you folks have the flu. Blech! Plenty of sickness going around here, but I haven't caught any (yet.) Wind right now is gusting 40 mph plus I'd say. I won't sleep tonight. Thanks for the virtual hug, Kai.

Sorry to hear about your interrupted sleep. Wind can be annoying (and dangerous) for people who live in houses built of light materials. Here's a short story for you to distract you a little and make you feel a bit less crabby: In the place where I live we are quite famous for our strong wind. It even has a name, it's called Burja (boor-yah). We regularly get winds over 80 or 90 mph - at least once or twice every winter. The most I remember in the recent years was 217 km/h, that's about 135 mph. It broke a couple of branches off the trees, smashed a few windows and threw a couple of bricks off the roofs... but that was more or less it. The houses here have 1m thick stone walls. So basically we get regular F2-F3 tornadoes and nobody worries about them too much! However, it is very dangerous for foreign truck drivers, who don't know when they shouldn't drive through the valley. The motorway is built exactly perpendicular to the direction of the wind, so when one of them Polish or Romanian trucks with huge side tarpaulins comes driving too fast from behind the corner... it's like children flying a kite.

slightly off-subject, I noticed during our Danube River Cruise trip this past fall that most of the big rig trucks did not have metal enclosed trailers, they were almost all nylon tarp covered. Don't see that here in the states. I wondering if that's to help them unload quicker, or to do inspections quicker. Trip was great by the way, 3 nights in Prague, then 8 nights Nuremberg to Budapest. Great beer everywhere!!

I have had a case of the "I don't wanna's" too lately. Hopefully this will pass for all of us.

Got lots of things I ( SHOULD ) be working on here in Iowa but the way the weather has been the last couple weeks I just can't get inspired ! It took 2 days to drum up the energy to bring the garbage can in from the road, a distance of 30 foot !

After about 2 seconds I would have gotten a swat across the backside and that would have been the end of that.

wow, Kai, those are some winds! Our house is bolted to what we call 'ledge' here; it's not going anywhere. But there are some asphalt shingles on the lawn.
Where I work (nearby) is very exposed and open. The building is 21 years old and we've needed a new roof since last year. We've already gone through 3 roofs, and the last one, which was supposed to be hurricane rated, lasted the longest.

It is 25 degrees with snow on the ground and I had to take out the stove pipe for my shop stove yesterday and need to get it put in today, may just stay in nice arm house and say the heck with it, at least for now. Need to get on shop roof but with 4 inches of snow and ice I think this old man will stay on the ground. It is a bit depressing sometimes.
