Well, here they are folks! I made the first last night and the second this afternoon. I cheated on this one. It was a watch kit. Easy to do and now I'm going to get a watch face and make one from scratch. This is the first stone I have glued a bail to rather than drilling. It's leopard skin jasper. One time I look at it and really like it, the next time, I'm not so sure. I messed up on one end - put one last little silver bead on one side and forgot to put it on the other! No big deal. I haven't glued the knots in the bead tip yet because I might end up deciding I don't really like it and take it apart. I'm thinking the Swarovski crystals are maybe just TOO pink. What do ya'll think? Honest opinions!!! I promise I won't llana

Ooooo Llana, that's a tough call. I'm not really crazy about hot pink so I don't think my opinon is worth that much. I think for someone who likes that color it would be great because for the beading design itself, you did a terrific job.
Cher
PS ... that's a pretty cool watch, where did you find the kit? That would make someone a great present.

I got the watch kit at Hobby Lobby for $12.95 or so. Fire Mountain has them but they are around $18.00. Hobby Lobby gets all their beads and stuff from CraftsEtc and their prices are pretty reasonable. They don't have much of a selection of gemstone beads but lots of other stuff. They also have a website www.craftsect.comI really like the watch. Was thinking about giving it to my youngest nephew's wife, then saw some ladybug beads at FM and changed my mind. She loves ladybugs and will probably be tickled to pieces to have a ladybug necklace. I love hot pink, but I didn't know these crystal beads were going to be sooooo hot pink! It's not the hot pink that bothers me, it's not being able to decide if the hot pink brings out the pink in the leopard skin or overpowers it. Like I said, I look at it and like it, then look at it again and think it's too much! llana

i love the watch! did all of your leopardstone come out that shiny? i think the hot pink is overpowering it - i like the rose quartz better with it. but i also have a desire to hold a garnet or garnet colored bead up there to that stone and see what it does. but pictures can be deceiving and it may just look that way on my cyber side. but i sure do want to hold one up there ;D

I really like the watch too. Thinking I might keep it. Don't know why though. I never dress up enough to wear any kind of jewelry and I am allergic to everything except 14K gold. Can't afford that, so I wear no jewelry. Even my cheapie Timex with the plastic band eats me up where the back of the watch face and the buckle is against my skin. I have some 4mm garnet beads and some rose quartz nuggets. I might experiment with those two and see what happens. I polished the leopard skin in a more of less mongrel mix. I had the leopard skin, some tiger eye, parrot wing, sodalite and some other stuff that I had polished before that I wasn't happy with. I ran them all through 2 days of 1000, then in the polish that came with the vibe. Wasn't happy with how they turned out with that, so tried some Sureluster polish. The leopard skin has a fairly decent polish on it - some pieces more than others, same with the sodalite. The tiger eye turned out great as did the parrot wing. The green stuff that hadn't taken a polish the first time around, didn't take a polish this time around either. So, it will be used on something where I can cheat alittle and use some polyurethane on it! llana

wonder if you could hang a watch face from a necklace then put a few hanging small bead strands coming off the bottom? would it bother you at the back of the neck llana?

I thought about a watch necklace while I was making that one. I used to see watch necklaces all the time, but don't anymore. Soooo, maybe it's time to create a really neat one and bring them back in fashion. I can wear necklaces as long as they don't touch my skin. I was able to wear the cabojohn Sand's made - the chain is sterling - for a few days. Since that was much longer than usual, I thought I'd grown out of the allergy, but then started breaking out in big welts. My sister and neice have the same allergy. My mom could wear - and loved - any kind of junk jewelry she could get her hands on so we didn't get it from her. If she was still alive, she could be my living model, she would love necklaces with rocks on them. I didn't get the allergy from her but I did get a love of picking up rocks from her. llana

my better half is also allergic to most metals, poor guy! he has to get rhodium eyeglass frames so he can wear his glasses. he has to get special plastic wristwatch straps to keep the metal of the watch away from his skin, too....he has to be careful handling coins too!
i've seen those watch kits, that one you did turned out extremely well, llana! i guess i'd have to see a close up of the leopard skin to give a better opinion of the necklace, i like crystals, so i am biased. i tend to use smaller ones than that tho...haha, the big ones are SO expensive! the design is nice, i like the layout and blend of different beads....

I like them too...the necklace is an eyecatcher. I can't take metal next to my skin either...but I do like that watch. Maybe someone needs to set a clock into stone...it'd be a smash hit!

KD, I got those from Beadblower for next to nothing in an auction. I posted their ebay store addy on the vendor forum. They have some pretty good prices on the crystal. I have the winning bid on some 6mm emerald colored ones at $.15 and some 8mm amethyst at $.06. OPPS, I shouldn't have told that - ya'll might go over and outbid me! But that's okay cause they have more starting at $.01 that I can bid on. Of course, the shipping is $1.99 and on those particular auctions you can't combine shipping - but heck, if you can get a string of 8mm crystals for 6 cents or a little more, even with $1.99 shipping, it's a deal and a half! Kim, I think eye-catching is a good description of the necklace. I just can't decide if it's eye-catching good or bad! Guess I will show it to a couple folks and see what they think. I will probably just leave it alone for now. It's one I think might do well at the Mexican flea market in SA that I am starting to make stuff for. Most Mexicans love those bright colors. Although I am not Mexican, I think there might be some Mexican blood in my veins from somewhere - well, actually I know there is. My mom's 8 or 9 times great grandmother was French/Spanish. It just didn't show up in the family history til me. I'm the one that painted the front porch of my yellow house hot pink and aqua. Almost all my neighbors were Mexican, they loved it and teased me about being part Mexican. Of course, my family and friends thought I was nuts! llana

Hey Llana, it's kind of funny, you can't wear the metal against your skin, and my body will eat most metals up! My watchs have to be all stainless steel. A gold plated base metal will melt away on me.
What the heck, from one redneck to another, I think that hot pink necklace will go great with your velvet Elvis painting! ;D
Ron
ps. Just kidding Llana, I think that look great. They just have to be worn with the right blouse. Found any rocks lately with a picture of G. W.?

Llanna, Actually, as I am in the fashion retail business, pink is THE COLOR right now, sells really well! The only thing I would sugest is a bigger stone/shorter necklace. Beaded chockers with stones are hot too. The showyer the better! Love the watch! Cookie P.S. I will answer your IM tommorrow, it's a long story

What the heck, from one redneck to another, I think that hot pink necklace will go great with your velvet Elvis painting! LOL! Maybe I should paint one on Elvis and spruce him up a bit. He's gettin' a little ragged lookin' after all these years. bigger stone/shorter necklace. Beaded chockers with stones are hot too Hmmm, bigger stone - maybe that's what it needs to make me like it all the time. I'll have to play around with it after I get all my Christmas presents made - got the beads to do them today, now there are no more excuses not to get them done . llana
