We are sad to say that all of the evidence points to the passing of our johnw - known as John Deakin Waring in real life. We don't know any of the circumstances of John's passing, but we do know that John suddenly made his last post here on 2/09/2019 and we have found an obituary from 2/10/2019 that is an exact match to John's first and last name and his birthday from his RTH profile. We also know that the funeral home is located in very close proximity to where his posts were originating based on his IP location. Just to add a level of certainty we have reached out to the family through the funeral home and if anything more develops we will share it - if it is appropriate to do so. John had an exuberant personality and it was obvious that he loved rocks in a way that not all of us could match, or even understand and appreciate. John loved to see the beautiful pictures inside the rocks and had a particularly infectious enthusiasm for collecting carved display animals as he shared in his wonderful Welcome to my Zoo thread. Rest in peace John - I will say a prayer for the living in your life that they find comfort and healing.

This is so very sad. He had an infectious sense of humor and an imagination that rivaled Dr. Suess. He will be missed.
Prayers for his family and friends. RIP johnw. Sweet, gem-studded dreams.

RTH is diminished with his loss. RIP, and keep an eye on those cooks back in the kitchen, John.

Leaving a small tribute to John here. Before the Pasty Shop, The Zoo, The Big Crazy tumble, were Bali Balls. These are the remains of coral (possible) that were smoothed into ball like sand on the beaches of Bali. John sent me some of his beloved specimen's. He was very proud of them and always intrigued. We sent many PM's about what they possibly were. He also posted them here and received further input. My research led to these being almost never found now, except for limited amounts on one, remote beach. Natural wave action has caused them to all but disappear. I plan on encasing some in glass, tube pendants. Others would be used for inlays. Below are some photos of the Bali Balls. This is what he sent me. I was amazed at the amount. I am glad to have played a small part in helping John research these amazing grains of "sand". May the beaches where you now are be covered in Bali Balls.

Wow, what a loss. It was just recently that he was posting about his big crazy tumble. So sad that this happened. Do we know any events that led up to it?
John and his family will be in my prayers. We are definitely worse off without his presence and contribution.

So sad that this happened. Do we know any events that led up to it? Grant and all, I just got off the phone with someone who had spoken to johnw's wife earlier today. According to what was gathered during that call, it sounds as though John died in his sleep.
