cher that's labradorite. my daughter's favorite is the rose quartz and i think my favorite is the pyrite for today anyway lol. i like them all but i think the bigger they are the better i like them. the ones i've gotten range from 50mm to 100mm. the best prices i've found to get them is from this site and i've searched a many a site looking. they have a $50 order mininum but it doesn't take much to get to $50 pelhamgrayson.safeshopper.com/index.htm?539kim

Wow, there is no way I could pick a favorite.
The spheres remind me of little planets.

Hey Kim, when are you going to try and make your own spheres? I just got my new catalog from Kingsley North and you can pick up a machine to make spheres from 1 1/2 to 9" for only $1,474 freight collect. I'd really like to make some, but I got to find a cheaper way to do it! Ron

that's actually a really good price if it will make up to 9" spheres! i think the ones i've see were way on up yon. i'm not ready for sphere making yet - i'm still focusing on the slab saw ;D.

on ebay at least, when the spheres get up there in size and are of a good material, the price skyrockets!! i think that about 20-30 6 - 9 inch spheres would pay off that machines price, once materials and lots of rough rock was bought, it'd be profit from then on!!

WOW! Great start for a collection. The stands on a few of those are just as impressive as the spheres themselves. Hmm...need any nice stands made out of some figured maple? Cherry? Walnut?

There are plans for a do-it-yourself sphere machine in a Rock & Gem magazine and I know a few people who have made them. They're not all that difficult to build and the cost is much less. The problem is I can't find that darn issue of the magazine. But,,,,,,,,If anyone is REALLY interested i'll give it my best effort to shovel a path through my rock shop and find it.LOL Tom

Yeah !!!! I love spheres too !!!
I did buy my first and only one some 7 years ago up in the North Island near Taupo at the centre for geology and nuclear sciences. They had several for sale and I thought quite expensive.
But I am pleased with the one I bought even though I had seen a much nicer one.....STUNNING ONE..... e few years earlier , but could not afford it at the time. Mine looks like the planet Jupiter.
