As requested, for the newer members, here is a rose intarsia I made a few years back. I just put the cup there for size comparison. So here is the rose bud/flower, stem and sepals (not leaves). Sepals are those green parts of the bud/flower that surround the bud until it blooms, then some or all the sepals fall off. Most roses have 5 sepals, but I only show 2 here. I hope you enjoy the photo. These projects get packed away and hardly anybody ever sees them, so thanks for looking!

That is beautiful. I would have it hanging on a wall in a place of honor. One of these days I'm going to have to try some intarsia, but I don't know if I have the patience. If one turned out even half as good as your masterpieces, I'd be thrilled!

Thanks for the kind words Ali, Orrum, Robin & James! One of the problems I had with this one was that my grinding & sanding wheels were too close together so I would "nick" the face of the piece on the adjacent wheel, then have to take the entire face down to the depth of the nick. It was getting pretty thin by the time I finished it. I finally got some wide expando drums to finish up the sanding process - much better!

That’s very nice. If the other projects are as nice you should display them.

I agree, you should display your pieces like the works of art they are. This is beautiful. The wood was a great choice for the background.

Fantastic work of art! What stones did you use? The background seems to be pet wood, what about the others?

Fantastic work of art! What stones did you use? The background seems to be pet wood, what about the others? Adrian Hi Adrian, Thanks for the comment! You're right - the background is pet wood. The bud/flower is also pet wood. The stem & sepals are malachite (I'm not positive about this though, because I didn't collect this piece), and the frame (including the thin yellow one) are pet wood. Also thanks NRG (or should I say "energy"?) & nowyo for the compliments!
