Posted this before and let it tumble some more- I think I'm leaving it as is now. It's only about an inch long... Here's the pic I posted before... And what it is now. Still has some pits, showing several sides because the banding patterns are all over it.

Good call to let it go a little longer.

Looks really good. You got a nice shine on it! Thanks! Too bad it's not a grown up rock with a little more size...

Good call to let it go a little longer. Thanks, I'm glad I let it go also. Now I'm trying to decide what to do with it. Keep it as a specimen or drill a hole in the top of it and turn it into a pendant. I'll probably just set it aside for now and wait until some of my cabs finish, then decide.

That looks really cool. Lots of character. I like rocks like that kind a lot. I just don't find any yet. Can I ask where a Fairburn is found mainly?

NevadaBill Of course you can ask, they can be found mainly in Northwest Nebraska and South Dakota. They are not easy to find, usually. We mostly hunt the pastures and rock beds in the Oglala National Grasslands. I've hunted in Fairburn, SD a few times. This summer we're planning on pushing further north in South Dakota to some new places and also hunting for Tee Pee Canyon agates.

Interesting! Sounds like an Easter Egg hunt. Every one is valuable. Thanks.

Interesting! Sounds like an Easter Egg hunt. Every one is valuable. Thanks. I really do enjoy it. Some days can get frustrating you can spend an entire day hunting and not find one. But there are other great rocks and wood to pick up. It's like fishing, even if I don't find any it's still better than working 😁

That is exactly how I feel some times too Mike. It is just like fishing! If I didn't love it so much, I wouldn't even do it, cause more days than not, I just get skunked. Hehe. Nice to see you found a keeper!

The worst part is when the person you're with is catching fish... Or rocks 😁 And you're getting skunked.
