It’s showing signs of a star. I’m only through hard wheels so far.

Looks good Brent. What's the source? Much of the stuff from Mysore, India will star, and I've cut a bunch of stars from Montana XLs. I have a couple of star sapphires from Tanzania -- not bad color -- that I've half-worked. I keep misplacing them so haven't gotten to the final polish stage yet but they're nice stones. They'll show up when I do my semi-annual clean-up. (Usually it's biennial or longer).

I’m pretty sure it’s Mysore. I did a little grinding on it and it looks like it will star. I may need to grind a high dome for it to show. The flat dome show a lot of flash but it’s hard to pick out a star.

The flat dome show a lot of flash but it’s hard to pick out a star. I think high domes are best for star stones. I've seen a few shallow domes on synthetic corundum but never on natural materials.

enormous corundum crystal. Hoping for a star. It always amazes me what beauty comes from a grey looking lump. How much of that will be left when you are done ?
