These are some of the rocks I found in Belt Creek, Belt Montana. The temp was a balmy 23 degrees out.... These are some landscape rocks I picked up on Malmstrom Air Force Bace, Great Falls Montana... and here is my 1997 Chevy truck I got for Christmas.... It was a little cold up in Montana while we were there but we did make it out of there before the big snow started...the day we left... We are happy to be back home and now I can get my tumblers going again.... Pho

cool rocks! cool truck! great state!
seriously, the photos of the scenery are very interesting, looks like a different planet! what kind of rocks are they? looks like it would be more fun at a slightly warmer temperature, however.
thanks for posting! make sure we see those rocks finished!

And to think this is just one of many creeks like that..full of nice rocks..... This one was easy to get to..just drive right up to the bank...walk out into the creek bed and start picking !!!!
I have a very good friend up in Montana who said he knows where there is a lot of geodes.....told him to get his butt out there and get me a bunch....will be making a special trip up that way just to get some of those.. He told me he saw some there as large as bowling balls...hmmmm...wonder when the snow will be gone.....

Wow, did you die and go to rock heaven or what? Do you know what any of them are? they look like some of the rocks I got at mom's house, which came out of a bag of Lowes driveway rocks, and they came out great tumbled.

I have no clue what these rocks are...just a bunch of them. The river rocks are mostly smooth...I think only a few days in 60/90 will be all that is needed then can go to 600 or so. The landscape rocks...well...I don't know what those are either...but there was about 10 yards in a pile so I helped myself to a handfull....but if I had a 5 gallon bucket I'd have filled it up too....never know when a bucket of rocks might come in handy... I think I could have spent a whole week in that creek...so many to pick from...was like a kid in a candy store...

Hi Bearpaw...glad to see someone who knows that area. I spent 7 years in Great Falls back in the 70's, maried a gal from Shelby and we are thinking about moving back up there in a few years. Yeah..I have to agree with you about that area. Lots of great places to do a little rockhounding. Next trip up that way will find me up in the Augusta area...got a good friend there too.... When I get back up that way...lets get together for a good cup of coffee..and some hunting and fishing stories eh?

I live in Utah and see these types of rocks all the time and never thought so many people were "envious" of them.
I've also never completed a batch of rocks yet.....maybe a couple of more days and I'll have my first batch done and I'll try some of my local stones.
If any of you ever want to trade some local "river" rock w/ your local rock, I'd love to do it.
