A little Dremel shaping first. Then went in rotary on 2-12. Now in Rapid Polish for the last hurrah. Part of a mixed batch of cabs and tumbles. I love the Poppies in this one. The lines appear to be healed fractures, so I hope they do not become "unhealed". Almost saved it for when I have a cabbing machine, but decided I could always refine it more later. Hope I am doing this stone at least minor justice, as it is beautiful.

Thank you so much. If it does not look excellent after finishing in rotary, I plan on using Dremel to further polish.

Thank you so much. If it does not look excellent after finishing in rotary, I plan on using Dremel to further polish. You'll do fine, I'm sure. If you have never done one before- the polish is kinda strange. It kinda looks like the polish is on top of the color. It'll polish well, but it just looks strange- not bad strange. eta- thought I would mention in case you didn't know. That cab will have a nice high value. They are getting crazy expensive with good examples like yours pulling a premium price.

rockjunquie Thanks for the heads up on value. I must take extra care with this one. This is my first time with PJ. Have another 5 cabs in rotary now, all with excellent color and patterns, just not as great as this one. What do you consider crazy expensive, if I may ask?

What size is that? In the 40 mm range I would put it at at least 85-90 assuming it comes out well. Maybe more. Maybe others will chime in, too.

That's a great poppy, fernwood! Don't forget to show it when it comes out of the tumbler, please.

It is about 1.75" long.
I received the rough from the new member here who joined to share the PJ he had. Still have about 12 lbs of rough and some partially tumbled pieces. Had I known the value, would have waited on this piece. All I can do is all I can do now to ensure I do not destroy it. Am hoping that the final tumble comes out great.

Tumble cabbing MAY bring down the price, but may not. I'd keep that one, for sure.

That is a great piece with poppin poppies! If you tumble? Make sure you stay clear of cerium . Why no cerium? Cerium oxide will cast a white residue into the micro fractures in this material, and make them stand out

Nicely done cab. I'm amazed at those who have the patience to dremel.
