Well, I am so pleased with the way this turned out despite all the cracks in the stone, it polished up rather nicely. And yipes, it is one hard stone! I was getting a thorough drenching from the spray on the trim saw and this was still sparkin'! Here are the slabettes, and the finished piece. I will now be seeking out a Gem Club friend to help me figure out the best presentation: soldering, wire wrapping, a glue on bail, but something simple and elegant, so my cousin can give this to his wife as a reminder of their vacation in Aruba! OH, I HAVE TO ADD THAT MY DAUGHTER TELLS ME THIS LOOKS LIKE A MADAGASCAR HISSING COCKROACH! Who jumped when they saw that??? LOL!

Hmmm, you know I didn't notice that great change in color until you mentioned it. Cut and in sunlight the light bands are very greenish and the black IS almost blueish. Or is it the light? Sunlight vs. CFL + phone flash???
