A customer and good friend had me replace clasps on some of her bracelets with magnet ones. Been through this twice so far, both did not work for her. Used some older ones from Michaels and others from Fire Mountain. She recently gave me two more bracelets to replace the clasps on. Will pay me for time to replace all four and purchase some really heavy strength ones.
Does anyone know where to get some really good ones? She said a friend of hers had some with super strength ones.
Thanks

I've been happy with ones from Rio.
Can your friend ask her other friend where she got hers?

Thanks. Would these be suitable for heavier applications? One is about 1.5" wide. Silver pieces with stone inlays. Others are rocks, about 1" in diameter. My friend is in her 60's, so no problem with age restrictions.

fernwoodThe neodymium magnets are some of the strongest magnets known to man. I have some 3/4” disks. You can slide them apart but it’s almost impossible to pull them apart. Check out this video. The magnet is 8” diameter by 2 inches thick. Around 6-7 minutes in, he hangs some weights from it. He has a hard time getting the weights apart.

Pat. You will be amazed how strong those magnets are. It’s nice that they make them in many different sizes. I have 20 or 30 loose magnets. They can chip/shatter if they come together too hard. The clasps I have seen protect the magnets much better than just having loose magnets. It’s such a simple idea and easy to put on or take off jewelry with magnetic clasps.

I tried a bunch from eBay & Etsy, but didn't find any that were strong enough. Here's where I've been getting mine for the past few years: www.strassbourgcollection.com/magnetic-clasps/I buy the 6mm cylindrical ones (under "Other Magnetic Clasps"). I use them on my waxed cotton cords for double-sided pendants. They have a 2mm diameter hole that steps down to about 1mm. I epoxy them onto 1.8mm cotton cords. 2mm cords are difficult to fit into the hole, especially when the ends fray. I've also tried the Mag-Lok version for necklaces with a jump ring. You have to buy a fairly large minimum quantity. Lynn
