That's a great idea! You know, I'd be interested in buying a nice assortment of those. Let me know if you decide to make these available.

That's a pretty cool use of a fancy machine sir Are you able to cut out clear plastic sheet templates on that thing? When I do use templates I like to be able to move it around and see what's under it - sometimes I fuss with it for a good long time before deciding it is in the perfect spot. For this reason I like the Great Shapes templates that are on the market but I wish the material was clearer and I rarely use any of smaller redundant shapes.

That's a great setup! It is always fun to see how different people approach the same task, particularly when they have equipment from other endeavors. I know I approach some things differently than a lot of people here because of my background in the HVAC industry, custom woodworking and my small GC business. Thanks for sharing.

Al Thanks All Rockindad HVAC Industry ya say?? Well hello from another 42 year Pipe Fitter and 37 year Licensed HVAC Contractor after working for myself and running my HVAC Business Carrier Dealer I switched Hats and went to work for my Local County as Jail Maintenance Supervisor in 1992 I realized Government Employees are the only ones that have it made so I chased a pension and am now retired since 2014 thanks to buying my Military Time in the Navy. I turn 62 years young in Nov and I never looked back after switching Hats. My License State of Michigan is still current so I could throw some tools in the truck and roll out tomorrow if I wanted to but guess what? I don't want to. People call all the time and its tempting at $100.00 for a service call and $75.00 per hr after that but I'm retired. Many years I worked for the County and ran service calls and did installs after work. 80 hrs a week gets old believe me Now Id rather polish rocks.

I started my GC business with the intent of leaving the HVAC industry as I was feeling a bit burned out from running large jobs (hospitals, prisons, schools, etc.) and I was spending too much time being a babysitter. In reality, all I did was add another job and a lot more stress. Money was good but I damn sure earned it. Most people don't understand how many hours an owner/operator truly puts in. Just focus on HVAC now. I'm not wishing the years away but am really looking forward to retirement. Not to settle down, as I think I'll be busier than I am now- just doing more things that I want to do! Al

Let me tell ya Brother the time fly's the older you get, It seems like I know sooner do I get up in the morning and its time to go to bed! You need to plan and get everything paid off, Vehicles Bought, Appliances replaced, all remodeling done everything needs to be done and paid for. That's my advice I should have worked 1 more year looking back but that's another story. Take care of yourself your health is the big thing.

Tommy are you talking like plastic the same thickness as a credit card? A Template like architects use in drafting?

No Sorry to say my plotter or Vinyl cutter will not do that it can cut media 24" X 40' long. Single color or multi color overlay it will cut up to .25 mm. thick or 9 thousandths. You need something like a 3D Printer. to do that.

Can you use transparent material? That would be ideal.

Can you use transparent material? That would be ideal. Tela, What do you mean by transparent? Normally these white decals have a White Transfer Paper over them its called application Paper. This white paper blocks the decal making it hard to apply on Slabs. But I told MaryJane to use transparent application transfer paper over the white decals so it make application much easier. Is that what you mean? I Can also make clear decals and apply clear transfer paper but do not know why you would want a transparent decal. oregon I have been wanting a 3D Printer like 4 ever and would like the code please. You kinda talked me into it! My Toy box is getting EMPTY! Or I'm Bored Thanks ~Duke

Interesting idea with the decals. I still like using a clear stencil. That way you can move the stencil over the slab and pick out the best location for the the shape. Easy to see the better spots and the imperfections you want to avoid. My Sister-inLaw made me some nice shapes on her cricket. Told her to put the ones I liked on on sheet and print them and then save the sheet they came out of,there's my template. Now if I can get that transferred to a clear plastic then I have the template I want.
