Here's some pics of the stuff I just took out today. Couldn't quite make it to 2 full weeks but did 10 and like KD found a noticeable difference in the shine. There's a few of the jasper rocks that are quarter size, the rest are nickel size or smaller. Sorry I didn't do this earlier. Left top: Yellow Jasper Right top: Different quartz The small stuff on the left is just mixed stuff, the red on the right is red jasper. The one that looks like red and black is actually red jasper with hematite bands. The hematite is really nice and shiny. Cookie, this is some of that same green "frog rock" it really took an awesome shine. I really have no idea what any of the green rocks are, picked them all up in Lake Superior. The two green "beans" on the right have some white quartz in them, they took a good shine but have a few tiny little pits. Some small lakers that I polished for my daughter. Except for the one with all the eyes on the left. I'd like to figure out a way to wrap that, it's really cool. This is a moss agate that I found locally. You can see the banding in it as well as the moss. It's really pretty when it's held up in the light. Wish it was bigger, it's the size of a nickel so should be ok for a pendant. Thanks for looking. Cher

Those are really pretty! I don't remember what you said about the green rock, did you pick it up or buy it? I have some that looks similar and I don't know what it is.

Love those Lakers. I wish I could find more over this way, and Lake Superior is only 6 miles away. But I suppose if I would go rock picking by the lake instead of gravel pits it might make a difference. (Better save that thought for about another 4 -5 months when things thaw out). What do you call the ones in the first picture, top left corner, yellowish tan? Is that some type of Jasper? I have a weakness for the red jasper with hematite too. No matter how beat up and rough looking the rock is it seems to go into the bucket. I tried the 2 week polish for my last batch. Only made it ten days too.

I'm sorry, I modified the post to include size references. Sorry I didn't do that in the pictures.
Harry, no idea what the green frog rock is but I found that I do have another one (yippeee), just needs to be broken so it will have to wait till spring.
Puppie, found it in Lake Superior.
60/90 grit = two weeks 120/200 grit = 10 days 500 grit = one week 1000 grit = five days ao polish = 10 days ... and I'm pretty darn proud of myself for making it that long! ;D
Cher
PS .. Joanna, I have yet to find a laker in Lake Superior, I always find mine in gravel pits. LOL

Doing good John, just freezing my backside off up here. Thanks for asking. Hey, did you have any problems from those storms? I had sent you an email but never heard back and figured you might have lost power or something. Hope it wasn't too hard on you.

Oowee-oowee, I want my frog stones to shine like that! Alum. Oxcide and a 10 day polish. HMMM. Gotta break the Cerium habit and finally branch out. It took me long enough to discover Tripoli so I guess it's about time. Those are all really beautiful, by the way. You are getting pretty darn good at this ;D

All very nice stuff! But the red jasper and the lakers are my favourites. So you're finding local moss agates.... how cool is that?!!
