Hi guys and gals. Finally, I'm back after nearly a month. I just lost my other computer to a plague viruses, trojans and a barrage of other spywere applications!!! Be careful out there! Anyway, I would have posted these pics about a month ago, had that not happend... These stones are a variety of agates that I had lying around. Basically, what I did was threw in handfuls of this stuff as a filler, for my other ongoing projects. As time progressed I gathered up enough "stage 1" stones to fill up an entire barrel. Then I went to 120/220 for 2 weeks, 1000 alumina for 1 week and titanium oxide polish for 2 weeks. It was an experiment, and it worked out just fine. Besides, I was in no hurry. In the mix there is Montana moss agate, dentritic agate, Oregon carnelian, plumb agate for Zimbabwe, plume agate, agatized wood, agua nueve agate, pigeon-blood agate, some crazy-lace and a bunch of other goodies! Here is some of that lovely carnelian form Oregon. These stone were so hard that it took about 4 months total in 60/90 to get them that round! Here's a "cute" little piece of crazy-lace that managed to sneak its way into the mix. Pigeon-blood agate. This pic isn't the greatest... Left: Montana mosa agate Right: "Plumb" agate from Zimbabwe Africa. The plumb agate was just a test piece. I wanted to see how it would respond to titanium oxide polish. I think next time I'll ues tin oxide instead. This is agua nueva agate from Mexico. I found this piece to be quite interesting. You can actually see into the stone. Now for my two favorites. This is a "flame" variety of agua nueva. Thanks for looking!

Amazing eye-candy once again! Of course, we've come to expect nothing less from you In that family-photo (2nd pic) there are a bunch of pieces of mixed orange and black rock -- one just a bit below centre, another to its upper right, one on the outside "dial" at about 1:30- 2:00, and two more on the outside, one at about 10:00 and the other at about 11:30. I really like that, is it the agatized wood or something else? BTW, if you are wondering why your ocean jasper pics from many months ago have reappeared...they were going to scroll off the bottom of the list and I thought they were worthy of saving so replied to the thread to bring it back up top (so please don't wipe out the photobucket pics of them).

Thanks for the comment everyone! It feels great to be back! ;D Rollingstone, thanks for resurrecting that thread. I didn't know that really old threads got pushed of the edge of the list. I still have all my other photos stored at imageevent.com. Those stones you're asking about were called "dentritic agate." They were a little different then I had expected when I bought it. Infact, the look really cool up close. It's more like moss agate with blue inclusions. I got it from my friend at www.roughandtumble.com

Hi James, Welcome back, sorry to hear about your computer. Hope you have downloaded and installed Ad-aware and Spybot Search & Destroy ... definitely two programs that will help avoid the nasty malware and spyware.
The shine on those stones is stunning, awesome job. I can't decide which I like best but that agua nueva agate is really cool. Oh heck, I like 'em all!! Great job.

James, thanks for the dendritic agate ID. I'll have to look that one up in more detail.
As for old theads disappearing, in the photo section, any thread prior to Apr. 30, 2004 is gone, so a lot of pics seem to have disappeared since I started reading this board. Funny though, in the general section there are threads more than a year older than this that are still there. Maybe that's because getting rid of photos saves a lot more space then getting rid of text, or maybe it's something else? I'm not sure, but that Ocean Jasper thread was only a page or two from the bottom of the list, and it is just too impressive to risk having it disappear.
There's lots of other very impressive pics that are nearing the end of the list also, but the ocean jasper is my all-time favourite, so I had to save at least that one!

Wow....what else can I say.
Not only the amazing polish job, but the rocks themselves have so much character. And then there's the excellent photography. I think I'll be popping back to these pictures to look at again and again.
