I'm getting ready to resume cabbing. My first step is choosing the material, finding the scenes and then deciding if the cab is worth cutting.
Unless the scene is exceptional, I have to decide whether to cut it. The slab may be worth more than cabs produced. I found one nice scene to be cut from material that I have plenty. Everything else was problematical.
I think I'm going to start out trying to fix my cutting defects and recut some cabs where something went wrong; cab broke years after being finished and matrix showed up late in the cutting process. I've got a lot of experience recutting symmetrical cabs to free forms. I have 20 cabs from recent work that need to have better girdles. They have areas that need to be sanded and polished. The fine tuning is my Achilles heel.
