You gonna cab those golf balls? Your doming looks really great! I, personally, like a thicker girdle, but it's a preference thing I think. Some people like high domed cabs with very little to no girdle.

Great looking cab! I'm one of those guys that would be happy if you took that dome right down to the bottom/back and just rounded off the edge. It would be interesting to know the overall cab market's percentage preferences for tall, low, or no girdles.

You gonna wear a glove on one hand now when you cab?

Smooth and shiny. Looks good.
Only thing you might want to do is add a very small bevel/chamfer at the bottom of the girdle. Just enough to clean up the edge.

Excellent. You have the talent and the eye. So glad you are starting to cab.
Oh, the golf balls.... Am guessing that was part of your analytical mind determining exactly how the dop sticks should be made. As a former golfer, I appreciate the versatility of golf balls. They also make excellent pet toys.

FWIW, Duke, I’ve been using Golfworks grip tape since I started cabbing back in 2006.

I'll see if I can find it and resurrect it. eta- try I did, but I could not find it.

Looking a lot better! Yeah I remember the thread. I'm with Opalrexia, round off that corner of the girdle.
But more important, check the length of your longer dop sticks. With the Cab King, it's easy to get the dop stick to just the length where it can jam between the wheel and the front edge of the water tray. Just something to be aware of.

TheRock . Chamfer the bottom edge at approx 45 degrees. It will get rid of the chips. When I judge a cab, it’s as much by feel as looks. Learn to use feel on your cabs. Fingertips are incredible. You are doing great things. Teach a kid how to do that.

I’m old but I’ve doing this for a while. Rock work is fun.

Susan, Yes I took a couple different size sticks when I made these and had to shorten the length to allow for the Golf ball KNOB that I installed on them to allow better spinning turning of the Cab so I have the length correct for my system. All aluminum rods were cut to 5" the golf balls were drilled deep to only add a 1/2" to the Length. The Cabber plastic piece adds a 1/4" so total length is about 5 3/4". I removed the wrist rest because it just gets in the way. The first wheel on the left the 60 grit gets the most use and I sit to the left and work from the side and I am comfortable.

FWIW, Duke, I’ve been using Golfworks grip tape since I started cabbing back in 2006. To attach the cab to the dop? I tried 3m double sided exterior tape and it wouldn't hold consistently. I switched to super glue and it comes off easily in the freezer except for Montana cabs where it won't come off. For Montana cabs I sg the double sided tape to the cab and the dop stick to the other side of the tape with more sg. I end up having to scrape the tape off the back of the cab, but at least it comes off.
