(warning - don't look at this if you cry easily) I stumbled upon this listing in the Free section on Craigslist. San Leandro is about 25 minutes from me. Here is a screen shot of the item that was given away for free today ... Yes I said free... The picture is clickable but the ad will no doubt be gone soon.

Motor is seized, trays leak, wheels are shot......Make you feel better? Probably not, that hurts!

Boo! In revenge you should reply to the ad and offer them $900 for it . . . share the pain! JK

Not so sad. Which is worse? Taking it to the dump (where it will never do anybody any good, ever again), or offering it up for free on Craigslist, and hopefully goes to a new home and gets a new lease on life?
For people that have more mechanical know-how than $$, what a great chance to get a new piece of equipment? Sweat equity for lapidary equipment, lol. I've also known generous people to pick up something like this at low to no cost (other things, too), invest some personal time and money, then donate it to a club. I'm also okay with someone fixing it to resell. Unless you were born into money, we all have to make a living. Do what you are good at!
I applaud the person that placed the ad, and not just throwing it away, keeping it out of the landfill. We have totally become a throw away society. I hope the lucky person that got it makes good use of it.

We have totally become a throw away society. I hope the lucky person that got it makes good use of it. I totally applaud them also for not tossing it in landfill - or around here we love our free local 'electronic waste' drop off site. They take anything and everything electrical or electronic easy peasy. The tears are for me ... I work the CL free section every day sometimes multiple times a day and somehow that slipped by me. I could have used a back up machine as my bearings are failing on my big machine and I'm facing an extended down time which couldn't come at a worse time.
