Love the Saguaros and that one is quite the specimen, thanks for sharing. We visited your part of the country long ago and we went to Saguaro National Park among many other places. Always thought we would retire to the Southwest and that was before I was into this hobby, now it just seems logical Al

Poor thing looks like it's crippled. Awesome picture. It has to be really old to have that many arms.

It looks like a hydra, lol. You know it is an old one. The crests on it are awesome. Thanks for posting this!
Have you ever seen a saguaro boot?
My understanding is, it is a protective covering that grows on the growing tip of a main root. It is hollow inside, really does look like a boot. We found an old saguaro (in the outer boonies near Q a number of years ago) that had fallen over many years ago, and pushed this above ground. It was just laying there, no work involved!
Always have my eyes open when out in the desert.

@rockpickforever When I lived in Chinle, AZ, these were common road grade finds. Some Navajo friends coveted them. A few said they were sacred. Others just liked to use them as boots for creations.

That is awesome. It's amazing that it can hold itself up at those angels without snapping in the wind

Here's a picture of the same saguaro from 2007 that I found on line. If you compare it with the current one you can see how much it has changed
