I didn’t realize unakite came in such a variety of patterns. Thanks for waking me up!!

Thanks For sure, Pat! Seem to only see those bright swirly colors on smaller examples. I should have some more around, super cool. Here's a basic red green variance at a football size.

Nice looking Unakite! The half & half is interesting, but I really like the last one that looks brecciated.

Me too, the white chunks give it a nice look.

I love unakite. I used to collect a bunch of it from Lake Superior and tumble it. If you’re tumbling, the best the stuff that looks smeared or swirly. The type that looks more speckled, like granite undercuts like granite. I never have a problem with the epidote (green), but the feldspar (red) can sometimes be a problem in the tumbler.
It’s also fun to slice up.

I really like the coarse texture in the last two photos.

Unakite is Virginia's state stone. Plenty of it here.

Unakite is Virginia's state stone. Plenty of it here. Your unakite looks very different that the Michigan stuff. Almost like a different rock.

Unakite is Virginia's state stone. Plenty of it here. Nelsonite is Virginia's state rock, I dont know that they officially have a state gemstone but I would vote for Unakite being it.

Unakite is one of my very favorite stones! Just something about those warm greens and pinks that I am attracted to

Nelsonite is Virginia's state rock, I dont know that they officially have a state gemstone but I would vote for Unakite being it. Looks like Virginia is one of the states that doesn't have an official gemstone: Wikipedia List. There are several good candidates, including unakite (and historically, amazonite). Odd for a state that boasts 3 official State Songs, 2 official State Fish, an official State Dance and a State Beverage (milk - really???).
