1.75in x 2in x 1in thick purchased on ebay. I would not have bought it as a slab. I won't do anything with the face. I ground the other side and edges through 325 ofr about 10 minutes to see what was there and saw this: I'm not sure where the pattern changes so I will start hand cutting 1/4" slices from the face and leave about 3/8 inch from the side pictured. I'm not sure how much I will be able to use but it I am going to give it a try.

I laid the piece with the face on a table and rotated it against a marking pen. I did a good job of rotating the piece against the trim saw blade and cut the first slice. I repeated the steps for the second slice and ended up with the point end at 1/2". I'll definitely cab the second slice and the heel. They were what I was hoping for. Photographed damp..

I ground off the surface fractures and the knife edge sides to about 5/16 in the center. It will probably be cut as a free form and the pattern changes quite a bit from front to back. I might be able to get a 30 by 40 teardrop on the back. It needs some study.

I think I can get this orientation and shape to work. Open to suggestions.
