I have a Sears Companion tumbler, model 861.14171. This the one with the plastic gear drive.
The motor is toast. No barrel. I didn't spend a lot of time on it, but not finding a motor I know for sure would be a drop-in.
My thought is, if someone wants to mess with it, there could be some useful parts. Mainly thinking of those plastic gears. Seems like this would be the weak spot of the system, and these seem to be in pretty good shape.
I would be willing to box up either the entire thing or just parts and send for the cost of shipping, if this would help anyone out. Shoot me a pm if interested and we can talk.

Is your sears tumbler still available for parts. We have the same model, and as you surmised the plastic fan gear has stripped. Would love to get it back into working order again.

Please note: Shapeways.com has This model tumbler gear in stock. They are a replacement . I had 2 old sears machine with broken Gears One machine was a perfect fit . the other machine the Gear shaft on the machine was a slightly different diameter so it was sloppy. but they worked.
